1 ECD Prototype
Activity

Have a play with this new ECD check-in activity in your next team meeting or 1:1. It goes a little something like this…

When you think about your upcoming week, what do you feel?

Pick any two cards (black or white) that best describe how you feel and share a story about why you picked those two cards.

2 Pieces of Content To Inspire

Here are two bits of content that I hope will help you see the world in a slightly different way. To provoke you to do the work that matters to humanise the workplace. Hope you enjoy.

Listen

1. Peter Haberl: Attention is the Currency of Performance

How do the doubts of Rafael Nadal help other Olympians manage their anxiety? How can watching the Olympics help spectators conquer their fear of the unknown? What lessons did Team USA's psychologists learn from Tokyo 2020?

In this episode, Peter Haberl joins Liz Solomon to discuss how US Olympic athletes, coaches and staff unlock achievement within the system of their teams.

2. The masculine ideal of suppressing one's feelings has all kinds of awful repercussions by Christopher Kilmartin, Ronald F. Levant

Healthy, supportive environments that foster belonging, competitiveness and continuous learning but not at the expense of someone’s social status - create higher-performing teams.

It’s also clear that suppressing one’s emotion has all kids of awful repercussions. Especially for men, who when they become used to suppressing all emotion will eventually lose the ability to feel joy.

As a leader of any team, and especially male sports teams, we have a duty of care to our people and players to help them express themselves. So we can better deal with the complexities of life.

The masculine model of “suck it up” and “move on” is outdated and causes harm.

We can change this for the better. We just need to find the courage (and the tools) to say We can do better. I want to do better.

Something I've been pondering...

The best leaders I ever worked for or played for constantly strived to put their ‘tribes’ interests before their own.

Upcoming Events

Well-being Deck Meetup – June 1, 2022

Meetups are 60-minute virtual events where we get to meet each other and learn from each other. So you're always meeting new people who adopt and use The Wellbeing Deck.

We invite a Wellbeing specialist along as a guest to share their wellbeing story, insights and lessons with us all. Plus we play with the game together. So bring your cards!

Elephant Rider Meetup – July 19, 2022

Elephant Rider Meetups are 90-minute virtual events where we get to meet each other and learn from each other. So you're always meeting new Elephant Riders.

We invite two leaders (usually Elephant Riders) to share their Emotional Culture Deck experiences and bright spots stories. These leaders each have an inspiring story to tell about how they have used the deck with different groups of people of different sizes.

We're now opening our Global Elephant Rider Meetups to the public. Register now >

ECD Online Masterclass – September, 2022

People working with the deck are always asking how they can deliver the most possible value to their clients and teams. How they can stand out from the crowd. So we put Jeremy’s knowledge to work - several years and thousands of hours’ worth of development and practice, built off hundreds of workshops - and created this online masterclass.

We only open the Online Masterclass Course twice a year. March & September.

Join the Waitlist to get our early bird special when we open registrations.
