1 ECDÂ
Activity
Here's an activity you can complete individually as a leader, or as a leadership group, to deliberately shape the way you show up as a leader.
Use The ECD to answer this question:
How do I want others to feel based on my leadership presence?
Step 1:Â Select the 3-5 black ECD cards that best answer this question.
Step 2:Â Share why you want others to feel this based on your leadership presence
Step 3:Â Describe three ways you need to show up and interact with others to foster these emotions within the people you lead.
2 Pieces of Content
To Inspire
Here are two pieces of content that I hope will help you see the world slightly differently and provoke you to do the work that matters to humanise the workplace.

There's so much to love in this thought provoking piece about managing workplace anxiety. It's a prevalent issue further aggravated by the COVID-19's economic impact. But viewing anxiety as excitement can shift focus from threats to opportunities. Learn about the potency of rituals in easing anxiety and enhancing performance, marking transitions, and reinforcing control. Learn how managers can identify anxiety triggers, acknowledging their own anxiety and that of their employees, leading to a healthier, high-performing workspace. I especially love how this emphasises the power of perspective and habit to reframe and conquer the shared challenge of anxiety.

2. What makes us feel good about our work?
Behavioural economist Dan Ariely is one of the people who has inspired and shaped the way I see the world. His book Predictably Irrational is one of my top 12 books of all time. In this video, Ariely explores, what truly propels us in our work. Is it solely the tangible allure of a paycheck? Or perhaps the elusive hunt for happiness? But could there be more to our motivations? Are we, perhaps, driven by an inherent desire for continual advancement and cultivating a sense of purpose? Ariely explores these intriguing questions, unveiling answers through two illuminating experiments. These findings shed light on our complex and subtly layered approach to finding meaning in our work. Isn't it time we understood what really motivates us?

1 Tool/Activity Worth Testing

Something I've been pondering...
âHow do my values hinder me? We rarely ask our ask ourselves this question. It's a threatening question. It exposes us to our confirmation bias. Perhaps we need to acknowledge that our values (and beliefs) are more fluid than we like to believe. Our values and beliefs can be a force for good. But they can also hold us back. The hardest part is recognising when they hinder us though."
