Claire Marriot
Co-Founder of Culture Proof
| Port Stephens, Australia
From my very first experience teaching toddlers to swim at the age of 14, I discovered a passion for learning and leadership that has shaped my career. The joy of watching a child swim their first length instilled in me a profound belief in people and their potential. This foundational experience taught me that with the right support and encouragement, anything is possible. It set the stage for a career dedicated to building capability and unlocking potential in others.
My journey took an initial detour into hotel management, but I quickly realised that my true calling lay in people and culture. This realisation has guided me through various roles in the Early Years, Hospitality and Retail sectors where I have focused on human-centered practices. I have been privaleged to have worked closely with teams to co-create positive and successful team cultures, design impactful learning experiences that is embedded into practice, leadership coaching, and developing leaders.

More recently, my work has involved systemic team coaching, inspired by Professor Peter Hawkins. This approach has deepened my understanding of the critical connections between teams in our fast-paced world. Its not getting any easier out there as a leader and we can not keep engaging in the same ways of leading and expect a different result. Additionally, my engagement with the Emotional Culture Deck (ECD) has opened my eyes to the power of compassionate leadership and the importance of addressing emotions in the workplace to cultivate better cultures.
I have a deep love for coaching, whether through CliftonStrengths, helping individuals recognise their talents and turn them into strengths, teams being able to recognise the value each person brings and leverage a more distributed leadership approach or the power of neuroscience and our brains at work.
I am passionate about the positive impact that effective learning, development and evaluation practices can have on individuals, teams, and organisations. By fostering continuous learning and evaluating our efforts, we can ensure that we make a tangible difference to individuals, teams and ultimately organisations.
In essence, my career has been about believing in people, nurturing their growth, and co-creating environments where they can thrive. Whether through coaching, systemic team coaching, learning or compassionate and distributed leadership my goal has always been to help others, teams and organisations realise their potential and achieve greatness.
